Individual chapters of the book One Hundred Myths about the Creation of the World

The following are the individual chapters of short stories about the creation of the world, as they might be imagined by ancient nations, whether on this world or in other worlds. Reading them does not require knowledge of the world of Naul.

The work is far from complete and other parts are gradually being added.

Faith in goodness

In the beginning there was a great god who is infinite, knows everything and is the creator of everything.

He walks through the infinity of darkness and space, his eyes shine like stars and his breath is like the mist of galaxies.

Wherever he sits, he begins to create, and his creation is lively and joyful.

So it will go on forever, but it makes sense to ask when the world itself will end.

For the great god, who has many names, always creates a new world, full of real things as well as illusions of beauty, color and form.

His hands are gentle, but also firmly hold the unpleasant and harmful essences at bay.

But only at that moment does he hold them in check, if he creates, at the moment when his hands are kneading the foundations of the worlds.

For danger, malice, and destruction are only the reverse side of all pleasant things, and it is not possible to have only the reverse side, full of beauty and bliss.

Like a stone, it always casts a shadow, just like the crown of a tree or a standing person.

And God tells us the message of great goodness, in which he himself believes infinitely and we must believe too.

For he created the world for us as we see it, but he left it to us to rule and take care of it.

And he also said that our job is not only to protect and keep the world as it was, but to improve it, to destroy the evil, to frighten the shadows and to heal the wounds.

For the world that was given to us will no longer have a god, and the god will go far away, where he will give another of his creations to other creatures.

However, if we do not believe in goodness, if we allow ourselves to be seduced by dark thoughts and in our hopelessness we cease doing good deeds, we undermine the foundations of our world.

And there is only one world that has been given to us and we will never get to another one to live there.

And no one else will save us either, because the great creator has already left and forgotten about us.

Only we ourselves can manage the world, given to us, wisely and responsibly, for the happiness and bliss of all good beings in it.

Mother and unsuccessful son

Drobné ilustrace - Sto mýtů

In the beginning of everything was mother earth, which represented both the heavens and the vast waters.

She loved all the beauty in the world.

She gave birth to two sons, two mighty gods, and raised them to be good stewards of all that passed to them.

Their names were Sulu and Dori.

But they called their mother simply "Mother".

As the sons grew up, it was evident on them that they were not receiving the wisdom that their mother had learned long ago.

And she couldn't pass on the experience to them, as it usually is in the world.

Dori and Sulu split the world into their own parts.

All rivers and lakes, mountains and valleys fell under the administration of both.

But each of them had a slightly different character.

Therefore, each half of the world was managed differently, the trees and herbs were different, the animals in the forests and in the air were different.

Before long, however, the two brothers began to quarrel.

The animals of the one ate the herbs of the other, and elsewhere the natural calamities of the second brother destroyed gardens of the first one.

But it was impossible to tell which of the brothers was bad and which was good.

Each of them had a bit of happiness and joy in their hearts, and both could be tough and cruel at the same time.

Eventually, their arguments came to a head and Sulu and Dori got into a fight.

Sulu threw a large mountain at Dori and hit his brother right in the head.

And with that he killed him.

Dori immediately shattered into thousands upon thousands of stones and they rolled out into the wider area.

The mother herself wept bitterly over the loss and cursed her son, Sulu; and she renounced him.

Each mother's tear found one stone of Dori's body and breathed into him the soul that comes from the mother goddess.

So people arose and gradually learned from Mother Earth everything necessary for life.

And Sulu? He was very ashamed and unhappy about what he had done.

He fled to the edge of the world and wandered there among desolate rocks and arid deserts.

After a while, he thought about how he could correct his mistake.

But not being a loving father, he couldn't do it except in strange ways.

He looked out for a noble family, where the father and mother were good and strong people, and kidnapped their little son one night.

He took him to Sulu's homeland, a land of wastes, ghosts and shadows, where he raised him as a great warrior.

He taught him every martial art known and made him the greatest master of all times.

His name was Azonú, but Sulu called him Rútar.

When Rútar reached the age of twenty-seven, Sulu sent him back to the humans to perform thirty-three great tasks for them.

And he gave him all the magical things that could help him.

In the end, Rútar really did complete all the tasks and thus proved a great service to the whole world.

All his deeds were recorded as thirty-three legends, told by generations of newcomers.

Rútar became the protector of the people, they named him their king and gave him the most beautiful girl in the world, Lesana, as his wife.

So gradually, through Rútar, Sulu paid off his debt to the whole world, but he still shuns all people and rules only the wastelands.

Brother and sister

Drobná ilustrace - Sto mýtů

In the beginning there were only two eggs, dark gray and light gray.

Who bore them remains a mystery.

Perhaps it was an ancient mysterious bird, the bearer of life to all worlds, or perhaps it was no one, and these eggs are the first that have been here since the beginning.

Two beings were born from them, we could call them gods, brother and sister, named Ufor and Zena.

But they were unlike anything we know, they had more hands and more feet than humans; and also more heads.

But by the spirit they were children, and children alone, without a mother and father to teach and nurture them.

At first they just played with mud, ancient clay and stones.

They pugged mountains and remarkable rocks, filled lakes with water and let rivers flow through valleys.

This is how our world was created.

But it was empty.

When Ufor and Zena got a little older, they started running around the new world playing hide and seek; also for other games.

They also sometimes argued and even fought.

These unpleasant feelings and bad words created a black cloud that trailed behind the siblings like a dark omen, a reminder of their disagreement.

It gradually grew until it took the form of a coal-black demon, with a mouth gaping like a chasm into the depths of the earth.

Ufor and Zena were very frightened by him, ran away from him and hid.

But they still had no peace.

The demon always found them, chased them out of their hiding places, and started chasing them again.

But one day the divine children resisted, took stones in their hands and started throwing them at the demon.

This drove him away for a while.

However, the demon kept coming back and getting bigger and bigger.

Therefore Ufor made two great spears with a sharp glass tip, and they stabbed the demon with those weapons until he fell.

But it was not blood that flowed from his wounds, but salt water.

There was finally so much water that a great ocean was created, which since then carries the soul of a demon, is unfathomable, powerful and destructive.

Ufor and Zena then rejoiced and continued to grow and create more wonderful places in the world.

From Zena's hair trees arose, and fish appeared in the sea, which none of the gods had created.

Ufor, in turn, created the Sun and the Moon when he lit a great torch on the highest mountain in the world.

And look!

Some of the stones that Ufor and Zena had kneaded at the beginning of the world cracked under the sunlight and various animals jumped out of it.

Birds also appeared, and were born of stones, kneaded by the gods, under the light of the moon.

Many ages passed when the gods worked and played.

The time had already come when the boy Ufora became a man and the girl Zeny became a woman.

They felt a desire for each other, but Zena did not want to give birth to a child just like that, on the plains, under the stars, without shelter and provisions.

Therefore Ufor built a heavenly abode, of clouds and stars, of gold, mercury and sapphires.

Then he went hunting and killed many animals, whose meat he smoked and hid in the pantries in the heavenly temple.

Only then did Zena give birth to her first offspring.

Three children were born and they were brothers.

The gods named the strongest Hamar, the quieter Sotar and the smallest Lutar.

Later, seven more daughters were born to Zena and they remained in the heavens as guardian virgins of the world, except for one, named Alona.

She conceived her brother Hamar as a man and together they became the creators of an entire race of people.

Lutar, in turn, went on a pilgrimage around the world and along the way created many tiny sprites that he called his children.

Those sprites then settled down as good protectors of the woods and rocks.

Sotar remained alone, but secretly entered to the minds of the sleeping people and spoke to them.

That is why people often have dreams that they do not understand.

Beetle the Traveller

Drobná ilustrace - Sto mýtů

In the beginning of everything, there was only great beetle the creator, a beetle of an immense number of colors, huge as a whole mountain range, on whose wings thousands and thousands verses of the wisdom of the universeare inscribed.

Because the creator beetle is the father and mother of all of us, and of our entire world, we call him Ra.

But we must not think that our world is the only one, because there are more worlds, certainly not an awful lot of them, but certainly more than you can count on your fingers.

The space beetle Ra was looking among the worlds for a new place where he could establish his lands, where he would rule and create his children and they would build temples for him, to his pleasure.

He would then look forward to seeing all those images and holy scriptures, which he himself would not have come up with, but his servants would be able to reveal many things to him.
White clouds, white seas, and white birds appeared in his mind, but really his thoughts were limited and simple.

Here he came to one of the universes and found the place already fully occupied, full of black creatures, black seas and dark corners, filled with dark bushes.

Elsewhere he saw iridescent rocks and iridescent beings, thin and stretched between heavens and iridescent chasms.

In another world, he experienced powerful storms and heavy rains, indomitable waves as big as entire rocks, and the ferocity of cold and frost.

In the hot universe he talked again with the solar beings who raced on flaming horses among the dancing stars.

But nowhere did he find a desolate, empty universe where he could fulfill his dream of his own world.

He didn't want to argue with anyone or fight with anyone, because that was not of his nature.

After all, in the end he also gave such a message to us, the people, not to seek strife, but rather peace and love and tranquility.

We just didn't understand it, and often we still don't want to understand it.

The fact that the Ra beetle had passed through so many different and colorful worlds had one great advantage - he had seen and experienced a lot.

It also happened, and thanks to fate for that, that a million different things, colors and beings from other worlds got caught on his hairy legs and on his rough roofs.

In the end he found one desolate, small, raw and cold world left to us and our magical Ra beetle.

Ra began to build the world, according to his ideas and dreams.

He was aided by the ancient people, a race that no longer exists today, but Ra created them first.

They were older than animals and did not know the difference between a woman and a man.
But they were very hardworking, strong and courageous.

Not even a great storm broke them, and not even a mighty earthquake frightened them.

Here the gifts of other worlds, which Ra brought with him, were manifested, and which made our world richer and more beautiful than other worlds, although before it was a worthless, desolate and miserable place.

The beetle Ra himself, the great deity, is still among us, for he has become the Sun.

He is our creator who still watches over our garden of the world, delighting in what we do and delighting in looking at the great earth's anthill of an infinite number of beings.

He showers us with warmth and light, gives everything the opportunity to grow and flourish, but he does not judge anyone and looks wisely at both joy and suffering.

But he is always pleased by paintings, drawings, buildings and songs, or famous stories that only humans can invent and create, and even Ra himself would never come up with.

Golden dragon

Sto mýtů - Zlatý drak

In the beginning, a huge dragon raced through space with its frantic, surreal flight.

He was a golden dragon, the bearer of the only true substance that mattered and that was gold.

Golden were the dragon's wings and golden were his teeth and claws and scales, he was made of gold and gold dust trailed behind him like an endless tail as the dragon flew through the wastes.

And his mind was also golden, for the dragon was benevolent, he enjoyed fun whenever he could, and he wanted all those who eventually came after him to be like that, born of his desire.

Today we call him Erum, especially when we invoke him and pray to him to bless us too, be it with wealth, happiness or health.

The sun itself is created by the golden dragon, that is why it is so good and gives light, hope, warmth and life.

It's also all of gold.

We don't know exactly how the whole world was created, because Erum never explained it to us, but maybe also because we are not yet worthy of understanding and knowing the truth.

However, we know that a long time passed before the stars first appeared, also shining with gold, and these are the tracks of the golden dragon in the heavens.

Erum left many of his scales on our earth, which over time either crumbled into powder or flakes that we now find in rivers and streams, or remain permanently buried in rocks and caves.

Perhaps the mountains themselves wanted to appropriate all the gold for themselves, but Erum's happiness does not belong to them alone, and the people must also enjoy it.

That's why we dig so deep and extract the golden scales of the dragon from inside the rocks with great difficulty.

Gold needs to be collected, and whoever has the most is also the happiest, and so is his region.

The glitter of gold, glittering ornaments, golden roofs, gilded weapons and golden shields of the warriors attract the golden dragon's gaze and he is proud.

Then it happens that Erum himself will visit such a golden region after a long time and, although he is invisible to us, he will reward everyone in the region with the gift of well-being, happiness and joy.

Council of Elders

Drobné ilustrace - Sto Mýtů

In the beginning, many little gods were awakened, but today we no longer know how many there were and what they accomplished.

Perhaps they themselves were similar to strange ghosts, beautiful fruits of trees, simple clusters of light and sparks, or hideous monsters from graves.

Each of them was obsessed with ruling over their own world, however small and insignificant.

And that's why each of them created such a world for themselves, and created it according to what they were able to do, what kind of godlike mindset they had, what their desires were and what they were actually able to accomplish.

And so small worlds were created, full of fire or rotting wood, while others were cold and filled with beautiful crystals and patterns of ice.

Elsewhere, colorful birds or shaggy animals, unable to defend themselves, were running around, on other worlds lightning flashed day and night, while elsewhere they did not know night and day at all.

But it didn't last forever.

Because not everyone was peaceful and wanted to cultivate their world as a garden according to their model.

Soon the first of them attacked the other's world and destroyed it, took it for themselves, or perhaps only slowly reshaped it in the image of their own world.

And there were those who fought back - that's how the war that we know today came into being.

Many worlds were lost, many remained hidden and fell into oblivion.

Our world is one of them.

We and everything around us were created by our god.

He may be answering our prayers, but he may not be paying attention to us at all.

He would certainly be angry if we allowed the destruction of this world of ours through our fault.

Because our deity long ago had to defend this world against the attacks of other worlds, so that we can live in peace and quiet, if it is our will.

May we continue to be wise and not allow the destruction of our world, and pray to our god to save the world from destruction.

Fire and water

In the beginning of everything there was only fire and water, and from them everything is created, including people themselves, their souls and their destinies.

There are no gods in the world to create us, to rule us or protect us in any way.

Everything that was to be on earth was already contained in the countless variations, manifestations, behaviors and forms of these two magnificent elements, which we do not even understand yet.

It is not even easy to reveal which properties both elements rule, whether fire only destroys and water only heals, because both have such an ability and neither is subordinate to the other.

Together they created the most basic building blocks, such as crystal, crushed into sand and cemented into rocks.

They created steam and air, gases and the healing breath of magical beings.

The molten fire hidden in the deep water gave rise to the metals, the fire dissolved in the water gave rise to the life-giving blood.

The breath of water heals wounds and allows the fusion of male and female to create the next life.

Myriad threads of fire and water intertwined together form a complex network of spells, necessary for the creation of life, soul and destiny.

However, it would be a mistake to think that these are perhaps two beings who think, have some power over things and know what they are doing.

It is rather a big coincidence, after all, the state of the world we are in also corresponds to this.

Not everything is well planned and not everything is arranged in such a way that harmony occurs regularly.

After all, fire and water, in their infinite number of combinations, created everything that could ever be created, and no mathematician can write down a number that would express this amazing number.

Each of the variations of the combination of water and fire is contained in our universe and is hidden in the distant galaxies and does not care if we reveal it or not for the next million years.

Spoiled beginnings

Drobná ilustrace - Sto mýtů
Drobná ilustrace - Sto mýtů

In the beginning there was a great god who appeared as a man of immense power, but on his forehead bore the mark of an unhappy end.

Under his hands all the things we know were created, the waters and the earth, the sun and the stars, the trees and the animals, whatever there is in the world.

But each of those things had a certain stain or defect.

The sun was too hot, though useful, the seas were mighty, but their water was inedible and unpalatable, the trees bore fruit, but mold and disease flourished under their roots.

The god himself enjoyed his fruits, but he did not choose only the good ones to produce noble beings.

He drank the sea and the mud of the deep and ate fruit from trees, but also fruit that fell to the ground, rotten and full of worms, he hunted tasty animals, but he ate them whole, including their entrails.

One day, the god became sick from all these abominations, his stomach turned upside down, and this way the first human descendants came to earth.

But again it was not good because only his sons turned out to be similar to their father, albeit uglier and with unpleasant voices, but not completely evil.

But his daughters were born as hideous monsters, damaged, ugly, with claws and jagged mouths, craving blood and suffering.

They immediately fled to forests, deep mountains and dark ravines, where they began to raise their own offspring, hideous monsters.

Father God named his sons Bátuga, Gulangaz and Túmnaj.

The brothers teamed up with their father and built a great fortress in the middle of the world to defend themselves against their sisters.

It was necessary because the power of the monsters of their evil sisters grew and they appropriated more and more of the beauty of the world, the landscapes that should have belonged to the sons of God.

And the sons asked their father where they could find women for their tribe, beautiful creatures with whom they could produce offspring to fill their kingdoms.

However, the father had no answers and hesitated himself.

But Gulangaz didn't wait anymore and created a woman for himself, kneaded her from light clay and taught her to move and take care of the household.

However, she was not a true woman, for she had no soul; here father god himself would have to breathe it into her.

But still, Gulangaz fathered many offspring with her, and thus founded the Kingdom of the Silent - because his wife could not speak, and only some of these people learned it from their father.

Tumnaj also solved his desire for a real woman - he finally couldn't stand being good and conceived a child with one of his sisters.

But from this bad union was born a powerful ancient dragon, abounding in many charms and also very evil.

Túmnaj was then horrified by his act, tried to fix everything and to escort the dragon out of the world.

However, he was never able to do this - and eventually took his own life out of desperation.

But what did not happen - from his heart, which he pierced with a bone dagger, a beautiful girl jumped out, as beautiful as many later women of the human race.

Father God, now also the grandfather of his granddaughter, gave her a soul and was proud of what happened.

He was proud of the fact that, after all, beauty and a great work of creation came to earth from his breed.

But Gulangaz asked his father why God did not breathe life into his wife, who was molded from clay.

But God did not listen to him.

The first woman's name was Narangerela, and the god assigned her as his wife to his son, Batúgun.

Here, Gulangaz became very angry and marched against his brother with his people and a large army, but Batúgun was more powerful and, moreover, was secretly supported by his father.

Batúgun eventually defeated Gulangaz.

So there was only one of the brothers and only one beautiful woman left, Narangerela and Batúgun.

Together they founded the human race as we know it today.

The strange people who remained from the Silent Kingdom did not all die, but fled to the forests in the hot lands.

They still have their abodes there, but the world now belongs to the second-born people, who worship their grandfather, the great father, the god - and for this he supports them generously and does not let them starve.

Animals of three elements

Drobná ilustrace - Sto mýtů

In the beginning there was only a barren and empty land, filled with shreds of darkness.

All around lay an endless ocean, terribly cold and dark, full of horrors, but without a single ripple.

However, in addition to this, in the beginning there were three animals, unlike anything we know.

These were the creatures of life on the barren earth.

Each of them was present in its element, the stone animal in the mountains, the water animal in the depths, the flying animal then in the air.

The animals felt lonely and would like to get closer, but whenever they came even close to each other, a terrible hatred took over them and they wanted to kill each other.

But they are immortal, like the indestructible life of the world, and that is why they finally drifted off to their own ends.

They were sad at last, and each of the animals began to pray for peace and tranquility, for the removal of hatred.

And there you go! From the prayers, a great holy spirit was born, a spirit benevolent and helpful.

He went around the unfortunate animals, teaching them about the lives of the other two, about their desires and thoughts, about their elements.

After the animals saw through, each of them created a part of the world and wanted to show off to the other, expecting recognition.

The flying beast created a hot sun that scared away the darkness.

It also built temples in many places on earth, and those temples were dedicated to all three animals, the benevolent spirit, and the whole world.

The other two animals looked at the work and were amazed.

What a beauty it was, the glittering temples in the light of the young Sun!

And all praised the great work.

When there was light and heat everywhere, the second animal, the mountain one, created trees, grasses and herbs of all kinds, and also all insecty tinies, which soon multiplied throughout the world.

And again, everyone was amazed at what a gift the mountain animal gave to the world.

There the sea animal raised treasures from the bottom of the ocean and gave the world stars, moon, lakes and rivers, clouds and rain.

This is how our world was created.

Only then could the animals meet in peace, and without strife.

They bore various other creatures after their pattern until the earth was full of animals.

But man came into the world later.

All three animals, as well as a benevolent spirit, met to create a new creature that alone would represent the crown of all creation.

He was neither male nor female, his body was made of stone, his feet were made of clay, his arms were made of wood, and his head was a shining star.

It was filled with salt water.

The spirit of the world then gave man a benevolent soul.

However, soon after man learned to walk, he lost his way.

He lacked experience and common sense.

Man has reached the end of the world, where the Sun goes to sleep.

There he burned himself from the heat, radiating from the Sun, and lamented.

The salt water inside him turned to blood - and blood is the carrier of life.

Thanks to that loud wailing, a benevolent spirit finally found him.

A person confided to him, that with the arrival of blood, the desire for descendants awoke in him.

That wish was granted.

The spirit of the world entered the body of man and made him into a woman who was to become a mother.

The mother gave birth to a son and he became a great hero.

Thus the great ancient spirit produced many generations with the foremother, and it was magnificent.

The people of later times were already weaker.

The holy father

Drobná ilustrace - Sto mýtů

In the beginning there was the Lord and he was the only deity, he was everything and still is.

Whether he created himself or let it grow and build, it was always he, the Holy Father, the Soul of the World and the Lord of Heaven.

For there really is nothing else but him.

We are his children, just like animals and fish, like trees and herbs, like mountains and lakes.

He created us from his body, his thought and his words, his wishes.

If we are tempted by evil thoughts, let us turn to our Lord and listen.

And he clears us of doubts and shows us the way so that we don't go astray.

In the beginning he first separated the light from the darkness and then the waters from the land.

He thus created a beautiful land, for his enjoyment and for the joy of others who would come.

He lit up the great Sun over the world and decorated the night skies with beautiful stars and flying comets.

He filled the earth with animals and birds, creeping things and fish of all kinds, also with grass for their food and trees with sweet fruit.

He determined the order for them to be fed, and that order was according to his mind - and a person only learns to recognize that order, but it is not up to him to change it.

Then, when the Sun was shining above the natural paradise, among sparkling lakes, wet forests, and windy coasts, he built the first temple, from which he let new offspring emerge.

And these were people, the forefathers and foremothers of the human race, whom he presented the blessing of great procreation, in happiness and harmony.

He saw their inexperience and the mistakes they make, but he had mercy on them, because we are all children of God and there is nothing else.

His last creation were the Holy Angels, whom he spun from his thoughts and sent to Earth to help people when they go astray or sin.

Animals, trees and people then filled the wide earth to create a beautiful place, a divine garden, as the Lord and Creator had in mind for us in moments of creation.

If there is any obstacle on the way to this garden of paradise, if we quarrel, if we kill against the order of the world, or if we harm ourselves and the world around us, it is only our duty to do everything and continue to follow the dream of our Lord, because he is with us and in us.

Stars and animals

Drobná ilustrace - Sto mýtů

In the beginning there was only an endless sky and countless stars in it.

Also, the hot sea of the Milky Way, which was once much larger, spilled out from west to east, from north to south.

A great glow filled the entire cosmos, but there were also many dark places, empty and desolate.

One day, the sea of the Milky Way became turbulent and the waves merged into a powerful current that eventually flowed into a single place - and there the solid land was formed.

It cooled down, and at a slow pace made its way through the entire bright universe.

Some of the stars were curious and did not remain in their places, but descended to the new land.

But in the meantime, many of the other stars were preparing for the union that the starlets had been waiting for for a long time.

Because they became the Sun, which shone brightly and the stars liked to be together in it.

Meanwhile, on Earth, its new inhabitants took on such forms as they saw fit, some remaining as yellow and white light, others clothed themselves in stones and minerals.

Some even began to perform activities that are not possible in the heavens, they began to build strange rough structures from stones, or others wrote characters on rocks or painted gray boulders with colorful colors.

This in turn attracted other stars, undecided, waiting at black skies.

They also descended to Earth and transformed into new creatures that the world had never known before.

They became simple walking leaves and branches, or simple worms or flying wings, mushrooms in the mud and floating fruits, with one fin.

Such wonders were experienced by the stars in the world, and thus they gave birth to an innumerable number of variations, all of which we can observe today.

Eventually, the most sophisticated stars turned into animals and humans as we know them today.

Therefore, there is little difference between humans and animals, because in each of us resides the soul of a star from the heavens.

But some of us are disgruntled stars - they are angry and resentful deep inside.

They long to return either back to their original kingdom, where they come from, or after death they travel to the Sun, to their sister stars.

Other souls of the stars, around us, are happy in this world and do not desire to flee anywhere.

They make our country more beautiful and strive to make their world a little better place to live in next time they are born again.

Monstrous mother

Drobná ilustrace - Sto mýtů

In the beginning there was a monstrous mother, with the body of a scorpion, but the head of a woman, with serpent eyes and three tongues.

She lived deep under the mountains and ruled the realm of the underworld.

Along with her, many demons and monsters, both weak and powerful, dwelt there, and they conquered every corner of the vast undergrounds.

But they had one thing in common, they were afraid of the Sun, and therefore they could not go to the surface of the earth, the Sun was also hurting them.

And so far the surface of the earth was desolate, neither trees nor grass grew there, only sand, dust and bare rocks rose up there.

One day the monstrous mother spawned one of her children again, as she had done many times before.

Here all the mighty gathered to look at the new monster in their ranks, but they were astonished, for the new child was unlike any other.

It was a human.

It was small, vulnerable and incompetent, soft-bodied and too cute, so the monsters mocked it.

But it turns out that man is not afraid of the light of the Sun.

So the monstrous mother rejoiced, and named the whole earth for the conquest of man and his descendants.

A man took an ax and a torch in his hand, and went out into the light of day.

He declared himself the first king of the world under the Sun and began building his first fortress.

However, the land was desolate, though not for long.

For the stars, when they saw the first man inhabiting the earth, sent to the surface the first apple and spruce, the first rabbit and partridge, and created a lake for man, and next to it a field of potatoes.

Even one of the stars came down to be a man's bride.

She was very beautiful and had the light of her sisters in her eyes.

But the man came from the lands of the underworld, and his mind was trained to look for rule and subjugation, after the pattern of his fellow-men of the deep.

He declared himself king even over all these gifts, and considered himself a master whom everyone must obey.

However, in the end love won out within him, and he eventually fell in love with his wife and fathered many sons and daughters with her.

The monstrous mother looked at it with displeasure as her son now cared for his women more than for mother.

And also the woman, the star, began to teach her offspring other arts than the monstrous, such as understanding, wisdom, and humility.

So the mother ordered her son to kill his star wife.

Their offspring will then be raised by the monstrous mother alone, underground.

But that was too much even for a man.

He rebelled against his mother and fled from the hordes of monsters, along with his children and his wife, to distant lands.

The stars with the Sun helped them build a new city, fruitful orchards and meadows, with fat rams and many birds, also lakes with fish and gentle rain.

Thus the first kingdom of Elani was formed.

The heroes of that region protected the wisdom of mankind and fought against the monsters of darkness - and all the kingdoms of later times follow their example.

The wolf and the Moon

Drobná ilustrace - Sto mýtů

In the beginning of all there was a great Ocean, and above it the white Moon - and it stood silently and reflected its face above the calm, desolate surface.

Only in one place, in the middle of the endless sea, sat the eternal wolf, the creator of everything.

His only island was cold and lifeless.

The wolf clawed at the rock with its paw, but broke its claw.

The first tree grew out of the ground, covered in blood from the wound, to the surprise of the wolf himself.

While from his claw the first fish was born and dominated all the seas around.

That's when the wolf realized that he has the power to create the world around him and he doesn't have to wait forever for someone to create it instead of him.

From his hair, plucked from his back, he created grass - and it soon filled the vacant land on the island.

He made a deer out of his tooth and a bear out of his ear.

Here, however, the island began to be small, but the wolf did not know how to expand his land in order to have room for everyone.

He therefore began to chant and howl at the moon.

It didn't answer at first, but as the wolf tried different songs over and over again, the moon dropped part of its face on the island.

That white stone, now missing from the moon, began to grow, far away - and dry land was formed everywhere.

The wolf rejoiced and bowed to the moon.

After much effort, the wolf fell asleep and had many dreams.

And since he was a wolf creator, his dreams also materialized and in the form of four women came out of his snout, mouth, half-opened eye and also from his ear.

One woman was golden, the other white, the third black as night, and the fourth blue as the sky.

Only there were no men in the world to associate with women and expand the human race.

However, the wolf himself could not fornicate with women, and not only he, but also the four great-grandmothers were sad.

The golden woman was the most passionate and did not want to wait - so she rose to the heavens and began to spread her love to everyone herself - she became the Sun.

But the Moon took the three remaining women to bear him sons and daughters.

The white woman no longer returned to earth, but with the moon gave birth to a generation of stars.

The moon also produced offspring with a black woman - and this was a generation whose skin color was sometimes blacker, sometimes lighter, sometimes from its mother, sometimes from its father, the moon.

These first people are called Moon People and they are our ancestors.

The ancient creator wolf taught the Moon people many important things, to sift and harvest, to weave woolen blankets, and to hunt game.

But the blue woman remained barren.

He was very unhappy about it, and eventually she was left alone in the deep forests or in the caves under the mountains.

Now she hates all happy beings and tries to harm them.

The wolf remained the protector of the Moon People, but as time went on, their descendants gradually forgot about the creator wolf and began to fear him.

Perhaps it bothered them that the descendants of the wolf destroyed human cattle and sheep, as well as pigs.

But the wolves are really friends of humans, and above all they still protect them from the traps of the blue Ancient woman.

Sacred grove

At the beginning of the world, there was only a deserted void, where wandering boulders floated.

And there were exactly seven times seven, all repeated seven times.

That is the reason there are as many deities who rule over every phenomenon, every essence and every quality in the world.

Such was the count of those stray stones in the beginning.

And in each of them slept one seed that belonged to a new idea of the world, a new essence and new qualities.

The stones, as they perpetually moved across the black emptiness, collided and cracked for the first time.

The seeds were released and began to grow into large, vast trees, each with a different shape and nature.

Thousands and thousands of trees gradually emerged from nothingness.

But two of them were the oldest, as they arose from the first collision of ancient boulders.

These were the trees of two souls, the soul of a woman and the soul of a man.

They are called Oron and Linda.

They were the first creators of words and desires.

They looked at the whole emerging grove around them and were amazed.

And they both started teaching all the trees around speech and writing.

Also singing, which was delicious and creative.

So did the dance that brought movement and hidden passion to life.

Each of the trees then began to bear fruit, berries, aphids or cones, according to its nature.

Thus arose the parts of our world, which were innumerable, and they interlaced, get to know each other, but also attacked and devoured, for such is the natural order of the world.

From each tree of creation, the chief of the given phenomenon, essence or characteristic was then chosen, justly or by the right of the stronger.

He had great power over his relatives, and his word was most valid.

People then began to call them gods and began to bring them gifts to incline or reconcile them.

In the end, the most beautiful fruits ripened to Oron and Lindana - and that was man and woman.

From the beginning, they learned from the best masters and were the first perfect people.

Later people always try to be as noble and perfect as their ancestors, although they do not always succeed.

Mother cow

In the beginning, a white cow lay on the desolate land, and we call her The Great-grandmother of all creation.

She grazed in the dark and ate the darkness, and no one could do it afterward.

But above it also shone the stars, which were also the first ones with the cow mother in the world.

Only after a very long time, when the cow's body was able to create something new out of the darkness, did Cow the Great-grandmother lie down and prepare for birth.

At first, her udder grew and milk began to flow from it.

It was white, and The great-grandmother and the stars were amazed that eating black darkness created white milk.

There was much milk and it eventually became an ocean.

The cow also began to roar as her time approached.

The sound shook the sea, and strange animals began to emerge from the nourishing milk, either remaining in the water, like fish, flying on white, milky wings, like birds, or climbing out of the water, like reptiles.

But then the cow gave birth to many animals we know today, which walk in the woods and run across the plains.

There was also the first man among them, but he was hairy and behaved like other animals.

He could not speak, nor had he any reason at all.

However, he suffered like all other animals on earth because they were all hungry.

There was nothing they could eat, not even grass, herb seeds, or fruit in the trees.

The animals roamed the ground, moaning and complaining to The Great-grandmother.

But she couldn't help them there.

Therefore, the animals chose one among themselves, and that one was the first man.

He was not very strong, beautiful, or fast, but he had dexterous hands with which he could make figures of other animals out of clay.

And no one else could do it the same way.

The man came to the great-grandmother of the cow, and she taught him to speak.

Just a few words at first, just to be able to reach the stars.

And so it happened.

The man devised the first prayer to heaven, a blessing to The Cow, and a request for help from the stars.

The stars heard the man and advised him to comb The Cow mother's hair and plant the found seeds.

Crops that could be used for food have grown here all over the world.

Corn, tomatoes, cocoa beans, bananas, and apples, or raspberries and strawberries.

The trees and various bushes also grew wide.

At first, all the animals ate enough, but then another disappointment came - the plants without the sun withered and failed to survive.

Here again, the man, led by The Great-grandmother, devised an even better prayer to heaven - and the stars heard him again.

The Great-grandmother took her eye out, the stars blessed it, lit the eye with great light, and thus created the Sun.

All the animals were happy now, but not so the man.

He missed his wife.

The stars heard him for the third time and advised him to lie down with The Great-grandfather.

The first woman was born from this union, white as milk and very beautiful.

Thus, in the end, a family of people was formed and they have different skin colors because the father was very brown, almost black and the mother was white as snow.

But we are all brothers and sisters.

Some animals then voluntarily began to serve humans and provide them with food, as a thank for the fact that this ancient man also saved them from starvation.

Worried mother

In the beginning, there was only Numa the Great-grandmather and nothing else existed.

Mother slept soundly, but there appeared great stories in her soul, like long, uninterrupted dreams.

One day she had a dream as cruel devils and demons approach her, hurting her, raping her, and then tearing her to pieces, all in a menacing pool of blood.

Then Numa awoke with fear and saw only darkness and emptiness around her.

She cried out in horror and then moaned, because she was afraid.

And she was afraid of all the demons she dreamed of - and the darkness around her seemed horrible.

But light appeared, like the great sun, high above her, and expelled the darkness to the far reaches.

Great-grandmother calmed down, but not for long.

Her body was huge, and a large shadow formed beneath her, which she was also frightened of.

Numa shouted a second time and moaned.

Then the Sun began to revolve around to scare away all the shadows and behold!

Beneath her appeared a solid earth, now illuminated by the primordial rays of the sun, full of hope and birth.

Grass grew on the ground and the first animals roamed in it, and everything was colorful with flowers and rich in berries and vegetables.

However, even this peace did not last long and the devils eventually came.

They hurried from the far reaches, where only darkness and cold resided, far from the sun.

They climbed the edge of the earth and brought with them fire and suffocating smoke, devilish giggles and evil words.

They soon killed large numbers of animals and roasted their dead bodies on stormy fires.

Numa shouted for the third time and moaned again, but this was the last time.

The first clouds formed on her body, which were heavy with rain - and it immediately began to rain.

And the water from heaven put out all flames, drove the demons of fire into the underworld or back out of the earth, and filled the lakes and rivers.

It was then that Numa the Great-grandmother began to laugh for the first time, tears of happiness and joy flowing from her eyes.

From every tear a great tree was born, and when they heard a joyous laugh, they bore delicious fruits, which became the many animals, birds, and fish as we know them today.

Then came a blissful time when the power of lakes and rivers, combined with the blessing of the Sun, did not allow demons to destroy this world.

Numa the Great-grandmother ate a piece of everything the new world had to offer her, and in the end, people, man and woman, rose from her womb.

They settled at Lake Bulunga and still live there today.

Numa decided to protect and help them, so she turned into a great mountain, which is still called Numa and stands as a majestic guardian near Lake Bulunga.

Divine light

At the beginning of the world, there was only one thing - an all-filling and infinitely bright light.

And that was the first deity from which everything arose, he was the great Creator.

And he also remained content with himself, for he was one and all.

However, he could not deceive the course of years, and even the Creator grew old and his doubts increased.

Am I really the only one in the whole wide world?

Gradually the soul of the Creator weakened, the light faded, until it was no longer so dazzling itself - and behold!

In a much smaller glow, a sea appeared that the Creator had not seen before, though it was always been there.

The sea was cold and dark, blue-black.

It radiated coldness.

The Creator was very surprised, for he realized that although everything was already contained in his great light, he did not know about it.

Curious, he touched the cold waters of the ocean and found a huge rock, which he then lifted above the waters - forming the earth.

The Creator washed the earth from the dirt of the depths, and fish came out of the pieces of mud.

After the earth dried, trees and sleeping animals appeared in the cracks.

The creator fell in love with the animals and played with them, transformed them and gave wings to some, antlers to others, or more legs.

But no animal was as his friend would look like.

So he chose the seven wisest of the beasts, and kneaded their bodies until he had created seven generations of men.

Each was in a different part of the world and had a different skin color, but they were all friends of the Creator.

He taught them the art of dressing and growing grain, and he also taught them to build huts out of mud and to heat them with fire.

However, he forbade them to kill animals and eat their bodies.

But the evil hyena brought bloody flesh to people to taste.

People learned to roast meat over a fire and got a delicious delicacy that they fell in love with.

However, the Creator was very angry with this act and unleashed a great storm and also shook the whole earth.

He wanted to kill many people, and many perished, too, in storms and under the weight of stones.

But then the Creator calmed down, went into seclusion for a long time, and left the earth to the people to take care of it by themselves.

Since then, the Creator no longer helps people, but leaves them to take responsibility for their actions themselves.

However, if they are very sick, they will never really leave his children.

Man the Creator

There was the Great Father, the first human, but it was not the man, nor was it a woman, for he did not know love and he was barren.

His name was Yulugan.

If he wanted to create something, he had to work with his hands and think about how to make it, he couldn't just rejoice and play.

That is why human work is the most important thing in the world, and only it can create the real world.

Love, dance and songs are only ornaments of beauty, but food, shelter and peace can only be achieved by work.

With the great Yulugan, there were only two huge rocks on the desolate land.

But Yulugan was very strong, grabbing the two rocks and beating them together to create a fire in the swarm of sparks.

He didn't succeed for a long time, but fortunately he was obdurant, so he created other things than he had originally planned.

At first they were stars, which are ancient sparks from Yulugan's striking.

Then the sea and lakes were created, because the ancestor was injured many times during the chasing, and streams of blood flowed from his wounds.

He also cried because he was unhappy that he was not doing well.

But in the end he laughed when finally one spark ignited such a big fire that the Sun was formed.

So Yulugan cried again, but this time it was tears of happiness.

Therefore, the sea is made of blood and tears of unhappy, but sweet, good lakes are Yulugan's tears of happiness.

One fine day, when the sky was full of color and Yulugan was resting, a woman emerged from the purest lake.

She found her ancestor asleep and she longed to make love, but her ancestor was barren, unable to please a woman.

So she fell asleep by forfather's side, and they slept like this for a long time, until the power of creation passed from father to woman.

The great-grandmother soon gave birth to her first child - but it was not a human, but a small piglet, cute and playful.

Its mother was very happy with him, but Yulugan was embittered by the way things were.

He was not pleased that he was not a real man, and also that the connection with such a beautiful creature as a woman, had created only a pig.

One night he ate a pig when it was a little biger - and then Yulugan obtained the manhood he longed for.

He immediately fell in love with a woman, and four children were born, two brothers and two daughters.

Thus began the human race, but much more needed to be created to make the world look like it does now.

The sons of formather and Yulugan created animals so that they could then hunt or slaughter them and have something to eat and something to wear.

Their daughters, in turn, created fruit trees and vegetable herbs so that they could harvest them and make food and medicinal ointments from them.

People of later times no longer had any such abilities, because they gradually lost them.

Yet the Formother and Yulugan still live and protect all of humanity.

Sacrifice of the Sun

In the beginning, there was only a desolate Mother Earth, floating in the open ocean.

Many beautiful lakes gleamed on her body, but otherwise the land was empty and so was the sea.

Only one star shimmered in the black void.

However, in the middle of the Mother, the coveted fetus had already matured for a long time.

They were siblings, but not twins.

The mother gave birth to two great gods, a very young girl goddess named Alona and an old man named Ytur.

While Alona was cute and playful, Ytur was grumpy, angry and greedy.

Alona played between the lakes and sang songs to her mother.

From those songs that sank into the furrows of the damp soil, magical herbs grew that we know today no longer.

But Ytur stumbled on the ground, scorched the world around him, and above all, constantly ate his mother's body.

His mother was in pain, bleeding, earthly juice leaking from her, but she couldn't help herself.

Eventually, as the mother's lament became unbearable, the lakes themselves spawned countless powerful, nimble warriors who were unlike humans.

In their four hands they carried stone clubs or shields and swore allegiance to Mother Earth.

At that time, Ytur was already grazed so much, that he resembled an ugly mountain that dug its claws into the ground to dig up its food from it.

Thousands and thousands of lake warriors tried to destroy and dismember the evil son of Mother Earth.

But in vain, he was too powerful.

And still voracious, so that he threatened the world itself, which he would eventually devour.

He would then float like a monstrous cloud in dead silence.

Alona, who had meanwhile turned into a young woman, called on the warriors to hang out with her and give birth to children in her womb.

Because she did not know what to expect and loved her mother, she always gave birth to a new divine child every morning, and it was the Sun.

At the other end of the world, a powerful and cursed Ytur was waiting in the evening to swallow the Sun.

But this new, painful sacrifice filled Ytur so that he no longer needed to threaten the world itself.

One day, three children were born - the Sun, a golden man and a golden woman.

They were not similar to children, but were already adults.

First they learned wisdom from Mother Earth and from Alona learned singing and sports.

With the help of ancient deities, these golden ancient humans created animals all over the world.

Eventually, Alona showed them the act of making love, and before the golden ancients died, they fathered a generation of nowadays people.

The noblest of us, who are closest to the golden ancestors, inherited a golden heart and a benevolent soul from them.

Others have their souls tainted by Ytur's greed.

Desirous Creator

In the beginning there was a great god, the creator of everything.

Nonetheless, almost everything, because since ancient times, since the beginning of the world, there has also been a woman hidden in space.

She slept at the far end, in dark black, but she had very intricate and beautiful dreams.

She imagined a new world as it should be.

Her name was Olna and the creator's name was Mardun.

But Mardun himself was indecisive and played on the shores of a lake he had created himself.

He built castles of sand and pebbles of stone, gates of dried mud.

He behaved like a big, omnipotent child.

And such are all men, great children, though endowed with great power; and they're still just playing.

And so are women, with beautiful dreams of the right world, but still asleep in their souls.

However, once the creator played with the stones again, he stroke them with each other.

Here the spark became the sun and lit up the whole cosmos!

And Mardun the Creator saw Olna and her body, and he fell in love.

Olna awoke when the light of the new Sun fell on her, began to stretch, and aroused great desire in Mardun.

Then Mardun approached her and spoke to her, demanding the satisfaction of his desire.

But Olna was smart, while Mardun was only strong but simple in spirit.

She stipulated this union could not look like this, for the world was still desolate, cold, and lifeless.

That's why Mardun first had to hear what world Olna would like.

And she told many stories, and Mardun was astonished.

High mountains decorated with clouds, fat meadows and dense forests, warm seas and a light breeze.

An abundance of fruits and berries, as well as cheerful colorful fish and lots of colorful birds, as well as shaggy animals for pleasure or fat pigs for meat.

Mardun was a kind creator and gradually did everything for Olna, although as he was eager, he ruined or changed many things.

Even so, he eventually create a beautiful world.

Olna then surrendered to him, and countless times after a whole generation of people, of different skin colors and of different tongues, had been created.

Since then, people have prayed to Olna for justice and wisdom; to Mardun, if they want happiness and abundance.

Seven spells

There were seven spells at the beginning of all time.

There was nothing else.

Perhaps the seven spells looked like colored stones, perhaps like flashes in the dark, perhaps nothing could be seen at all.

Maybe the spells were just hovering in space, maybe they were flying freely, maybe they were folded into a star, but maybe no such thing existed yet.

The first four spells were: the magic of the world, the magic of life, the magic of reason, and the magic of ruin.

But the last three are still unknown.

The first spell broke, the magic of the world and everything basic was created.
The stars, the sun, the wide world, and the great mountains, the deep seas, appeared.

The wind began to blow and the rain fell from the clouds.

Then the second spell was unfolded, the spell of life.

Herbs and grass grew everywhere, as did mushrooms and algae in the seas.

The earth, the air, and the water flooded with life, fish and birds appeared, and the animals in the forests and meadows.

At that time, people also arose, blinking in disbelief at the sun and enjoying the abundance of food and good water.

But they were only savages, like wolves in caves or marmots in burrows, they could do nothing but hunt, pick berries and eat raw meat.

Here the third spell spread to the world, the magic of reason.

Humans were given reason, and not animals.

So people learned to speak many languages and learned to start a fire and build dwellings, dress and sow grain in the fields.

Magic has also taught them dance, music and singing.

But the fourth spell was already in a hurry, which thoroughly spread its seeds all over the country, and not only among the people.

The magic of ruin brought diseases to the seas, and forests, to caves, and also to cottages, and finally to human souls.

Stains appeared on the leaves, and mold on the trunks, disgusting flies came, worms crept out.

Eventually, people were enchanted. Envy and anger spread, the desire to rob another and even kill him.

People eventually learned that there are still three of spells in the world and throughout the infinite universe, although no one knows their names and what to expect.

However, everyone is afraid that even worse wounds, plagues and miseries could come into the world.

After all, despite the damage caused by the fourth spell, it is so beautiful in the world!

However, someone says that we should believe and awaken the unknown to summon more spells.

Perhaps the latter will make the world a perfect Paradise for us.

Wizard of the Order

In the beginning, everything we know was already created.

For everything that exists has always been and will always be, it is constantly changing, consolidating its shapes and forms, or falling into chaos again and disappearing in itself.

And that's why it doesn't make sense to ask what the beginning of it was.

Everything was in a formidable confusion, indescribable, inexplicable, invisible in pictures, and even poets and musicians cannot capture it.

However, the only one who can magically reach into this confusion with his hand and carefully separate the elements from each other with his touches, without shuffling them again, is the wizard.

First he had to be born himself, or maybe better to get out of all the chaos, and perhaps it was his original particle of the soul that packed the rest of his mind, perhaps even his body.

For if the original wizard had already been created, and if he always existed, only he could lift himself out of the confusion.

What we did is called magic - and it is the only force that can bring our world into meaningful form, harmony and utility.

It begins with a simple separation of the elements and parts of the world, water, minerals and forces, continues with the connection to living beings, trees and animals, to the spinning of soul, reason and emotion, to love, passion, paintings, songs and philosophizing.

Who the wizard was, how many actually arose, and who are left, we will leave such a search to the sages.

But we should support all those noble, magical activities and teachings that stand above the foundations, subtle feelings, art, wisdom.

Not only of metal, glass and fire is the world created, not only money and blood feeds it.

Even a tree without roots will die, but the roots alone are not enough to call themselves a tree.

Only when we complete our basic endeavor with something higher than simple actions can we move our world forward - and keep it firm and beautiful.

Father's tooth

In the beginning there was only the Sun, eternal and lonely.

Like a golden disk, like a circle of fire, it flew through a barren emptiness and aimed to black nothingness, into a black wasteland.

The Deity of the Sun was lonely and had nothing to do but to hope that there was something else in the emptiness.

But for an awfully long time, nothing appeared.

The Sun-God felt his tooth wobble and ache - and it was the first pain God had ever felt.

Perhaps it was because time and old age took a toll on divine beings, perhaps it was because he was still young and the first loose teeth indicated that the time for a great work was ripe.

So he pulled out a tooth and threw it into the void in front of him.

The tooth began to grow until the whole earth grew out of it.

The Sun-God was very surprised and began to look around the new earth.

In the meantime, the first creatures, stone giants, formed on the ground, walking around it and playing rough games.

When one of the giants died, it disintegrated into smaller stones - and they turned into humans.

While the giants were ugly, cruel, and primitive, humans were timid, able to sing and make ornaments from grass, often very beautiful and elaborate.

However, the people were weak and the giants hunted and ate them.

Here the Sun-God lamented and felt sorry for the new nation.

From his blood, he created a large ocean on earth, leaving one huge island completely free of giants.

There he transported all the people he found.

He then left the rest of the earth to the giants and flew away from the earth, searching for the secrets of the universe.

But as the Sun disappeared from heaven, people began to weep, pray, and invoke their creator.

Such a great lament came to God's ears, and because he liked people, he returned to them.

To this day, he revolves around our world like the life-giving Sun. *

Two giants

In the beginning, there were two great giants.

Both were enormous, as we cannot imagine, much larger than our country.

Their names are Turok and Eron.

Turok was dark, very cold, he loved peace and stability.

Eron, on the other hand, was full of fire, shining far away, and loved stir and movement.

Each of them wanted to create the world - and that's why they set to work together.

They were equal in eagerness, but soon encountered their differences.

Each wanted to create in a different way, and they soon began to argue.

Turok wanted icy oceans, but Eron wanted them full of flames.

Eron wanted mountains of stormy lava, but Turok wanted to cover them with ice and snow.

Before long, their strife grew into a fight, they were  insulting each other and pointing out that one was destroying the other's work.

Then they began to brawl, wrestle, wilder and wilder, until they destroyed all their works.

And they inflicted so many bleeding wounds on each other that they eventually killed themselves.

The two brothers, Turok and Eron, fell to the ground, and from their deaths came a great deed, the world.

Perhaps it was the ancient principle, that only death can give birth to life.

From the body of Turok rose the earth, the cold ocean and solid mountains.

Eron's head then began to shine like a mighty sun, while his body spilled like lava flowing under the mountains.

Eron's breath poured life on the animals, while Turok's breath gave life to herbs and trees.

After a while, fiery snakes emerged from the lava beneath the mountains, wise and eager to fight, born from Eron's soul.

Snakes also climbed out of the depths of the seas, completely different in shape and color.

They were also wise, but rather insidious - and there were many more.

From the great heroes among those snakes, people were born - black and white.

They have always fought among themselves, and peace is not possible, for both tribes come from the brothers Turok and Eron.*

The quarrel of birth

In the beginning, there was only an immense and cruel Quarrel, a cosmic conflict.

It was an eternal struggle, an eternal confusion, a terrible chaos.

In it, principles and qualities fought against each other - and such a struggle cannot even be described in words that we could utter today.

From such a quarrel, the world can never arise, neither man nor any meaningful thing.

However, after a long time as the conflict and confusion escalated, the parties began to gather to help those elements that were related to them.

In the end, the whole confusion was divided into two halves, which stood against each other.

It was the foundation of the universe, the first sign that something new was being born.

It was the left and right side, black and white, good and bad, upper and lower, light and dark.

These were all the strange, incomprehensible foundations of our world that we consider unshakable and whose origin we do not ask about.

This division took only a short time before everything was mixed again in the frantic struggle of the mighty Strife.

However, one of the parties made a unique act at that moment, which became the basis of everything.

The bright side of the universe formed a solid stone, huge, spherical, in the midst of all this chaos.

A single tree-shaped bed grew on the stone, and a deliciously fragrant flower grew in its crown.

The first of the angels lay down on the bed to rest before the next conflict.

And behold!

That was the Earth, and that was the foundation of the new world.

Here the angels of good words rested, built dwellings for themselves, grew fragrant trees and protected their paradise garden.

It took an extremely long time to create the world as we know it, with all the animals, herbs and beauty of the landscapes.

But one thing remained the same, from the beginning — good always came first, built, cultivated, and protected — and evil was always one step behind.*

Single mother

In the beginning, there was only one goddess, the holy mother.

Her name is Matra.

She was to create all that is today, but she had only one breast and one womb, nothing else.

Her breast was full of milk, but her womb was dry and unblemished.

However, Matra longed for a man to sow the fruits of creation in her womb, and her desire was like a burning pain.

In the same way, there was too much milk, so much that Matra's breast ached, with a burning pain, too.

But the world was desolate, and only gray stones hovered around.

At least she tried to smear the stones with her milk and use them as male phalluses.

And behold! Her first child was born and then another, according to the type of stone which her mother made love with.

The first fruit was the Sun, for the stone was as hot as lava.

At first the sun hung over the world and did not move, but when it later saw all the beauties of the world, it began to revolve around all that splendor to get enough of it.

The second descendant was the Archtree, who bound his roots to form solid stones.

And this mighty tree binds all the mountains of the earth with its roots forever, deep at their foundations.

Then came the Whale, who let a lot of water poured out with her from her mother's womb.

This created the sea and the water between the rocks.

The Archdeer, the father of all animals, came out of the womb as the fourth.

He comes from a green stone that undulates with life.

The last, most perfect creation was a man whose masculinity was similar to stone.

He was also very tall, beautiful and full of strength.

He fell in love with the Matra and together they sired a girl, whom the man then married as a woman to have other offspring with her.

This is how all things in the world arose, animals and also people. *

An scurvy god

At the beginning of it all, there was only impenetrable darkness and a strange monster in it, black just like the darkness around it.

He called himself Oro.

He was idle for a long time, just thinking about things to come, but then he was overwhelmed with sadness and perhaps boredom.

He looked around and listened, but in the great darkness he could find nothing and heard no sounds.

He therefore began to sing a melody, to which words were soon added.

The song ignited the stars, and tone after tone, word after word, each of them created one of the stars until there were a large number of them.

Then the sky above the creature of Oro shone, and he saw the earth beneath him, which was his body, but he did not know it yet.

But woe! The earth was abominable, unclean, cracked, full of rot and stench — and terrible demons, strange parasites, and disgusting monsters were everywhere.

How horrified and disgusted was Oro!

His anger lasted for a long time, and he crippled himself as he wanted to destroy the abominable breed from his body.

But he could not fight the demons as he had imagined, and so his anger grew.

Soon his head blazed with anger like fire, and it fell and began circling the world further on.

Thus the Sun appeared and time was divided into day and night.

The evil demons fled from the sunlight deep into the bottomless ravines of the world, and they had no place on the surface except at night, and only until dawn.

Thus the Earth was cleansed, rain clouds appeared and sprinkled hidden seeds, from which trees and flowers grew.

And not everyone on the surface was evil and disgusting - other creatures that had suffered before, now appeared in the sunlight.

For a long time, only one grand-animal walked around the world, only one great-animal flew in the air, and only one great-animal swam in the seas.

They were the only good creatures in Oro's body.

After a while, on a tree called Dulmo, a fruit grew from which the first woman fell out.

She then learned from the Sun, from the radiant head of the creature Oro, to harvest the fruits, to weave a simple garment from the grasses, and to roast tasty bulbs over the fire.

Because she loved the world, she created from the clay, wood, water, and her milk all the animals, all the different shapes that came to her mind.

The great-grandmother of all living things is called Anu.

She was always threatened by the various monsters that still remained in the world.

But she couldn't defend herself, and she couldn't conceive another person like herself.

That's why the Dulmo tree created a second, larger fruit, from which the first man fell.

His name is Arok.

During the war, Arok protected Anu, provided her safety, and she didn't have to worry.

In times of peace, they made love before filling the world with people of different forms and languages. *

Bear

In the beginning, it was just a barren land, illuminated by the stars, and they are eternal.

Laid on the ground, and sleeping, there was lying a large bear, the creator of everything.

We call him Man-atan.

He was having a great dream, and was just rolling over, alone under the starry sky.

One day he woke up.

That day is considered the creation of the world, for Man-atan roared terribly, roared until the stars startled.

Some have gathered together to form a large hearth that has been wandering the skies ever since and hiding from a big bear once a day.

Thus the Sun was created.

The Man-atan bear was thirsty because it had never tasted clean water before.

So with his huge paws, he dug a large hole, too large, and did so in many places.

After digging very deep, a huge geyser erupted from the ground.

However, Man-atan was disappointed because the water was disgustingly salty.

Thus the sea was formed.

The ancient bear confered with the spirit of the sea that appeared when the sea was already full.

And the spirit counseled him to seek water in the mountains.

And indeed, in the mountains he managed to find a number of springs with fresh water, which he had previously released from the captivity of the rocks with his claw.

Since then, the mountains are clean and full of wise creatures, but the depths of the sea are muddy and many enemies of the world hide there.

After Man-atan quenched his thirst, he became very hungry.

He stood up and stretched his paw as far as he could - and he could comb many star berries from the sky.

But because he was a wise creature, he did not eat them all at once, although his hunger was great, but he planted many of them in different parts of the earth.

This is how the fruits of the stars came about - trees, herbs, fruits and vegetables.

The creator of Man-atan was happy and full of joy when he saw how beautiful the work had been.

He was singing, and suddenly, with each new word, an animal, a bird, or a reptile jumped out of his mouth.

Forests, meadows, plains and orchards were filled with new creatures, children of songs.

Man-atan was named their king, but he treated them very nicely, supporting and protecting them.

He never devoured any animal or injured it with his claws.

As a sign of his rule over the world, Man-atan himself, without the help of others, built a large castle, made of pure mountain stones.

And when he first ascended his green throne, the stars wondered what a powerful ruler of the earth he had become.

They decided to choose the most beautiful of the beautiful from their midst - and give it to the bear as a bride.

The star's name was La-kola.

When Man-atan found out, he suddenly hesitated.

He looked in the mirror and asked himself if he was good enough for the most beautiful of the stars.

That's why he turned into the first human, the first man.

Although he was very hairy, he still resembled a young man, also a very muscular, with sparkling look and a coolheaded voice.

The princess star was also like a fragile girl, and the two immediately fell in love.

Their wedding was magnificent and all the animals came to congratulate them.

Man-atan and La-kola gave birth to seven sons and seven daughters.

They then established a tribe of people around the world.

But the bravest and noblest family arose from the firstborn son of Man-atan.

This was the great hero Tu-taran, who took thirty-three beautiful stars as his wives. *

Wind and mountain

At first there was only a mighty wind, fast and unstoppable, and it circled around the vast she-mountain.

This has been the case for a long time, since the beginning of the world, before the mountain finally began to move, inspired by the wind.

She began to dance awkwardly on the spot, tamping down and stomping in small steps, but gradually ventured into a faster pace.

She loomed and rattled, and like a swaying monster, she set off.

But she was too heavy and too clumsy, and in the end she broke into smaller pieces, stones and sand with a huge noise.

This is how mountains and lands were created.

Her hair had become tall trees like it is no more today; and a pale sea spilled from her blood.

From the heart of the ancient mountain was born a sacred dragon, which danced for a long time with the unceasing wind from ancient times.

The dragon was called Utrók.

Then the dragon laid eggs and Ancient Animal hatched from him.

It's just not known what it looked like, like all the animals combined, maybe disgusting, maybe beautiful.

The dragon was very hungry and as soon as the animal grew, the dragon wanted to eat it.

But Ancient Animal tried to talk Utrók out of his request and delay the inevitable.

For the dragon was voracious.

And Utrók agreed to perform two difficult tasks for Ancient Animal first.

First he had to cut a myriad of stones from the rocks and build the first temple from them.

Then he had to establish a myriad of small springs so that there would always be enough water in the world.

And so it happened.

The great temple, the first and tallest, the largest, was built by Utrók in the middle of the New World.

A thousand columns adorned its stony beauty.

And the temple itself was dedicated to the dragon.

The springs were also excavated, several in each mountain, until countless of them arose and their babble filled the world with singing.

And behold! While Utrók built, carved, masoned and created, the earth was swept away by many creatures.

The Ancient Animal also did not hesitate and filled the heavens with birds of all colors, plains and forests with all sorts of animals and spawned an abundance of fish in the oceans.

When the dragon finished his work, he laid the last eggs.

From it was born the first man and the first woman, united together in a coitus.

The Ancient Animal was sacrificed and let the dragon devour it, for he was already weak.

So he was full until he began to shine, full of strength.

It rose like the sun, illuminating the whole world.

That is why men and women still offer to the dragon, the Sun, all the good sacrifices, as the Ancient Animal did in the beginning. *

The Egg

In the beginning, there was a big egg, bigger than the world itself.

And the world has matured in it, too, after an infinitely long time when the world has not yet been itself.

The eggs ruptured, the heavens rising from one shell and the solid ground from the other.

The egg white spilled like a great sea.

But from the yolk arose the Thunder Archbird named Nudós.

He was born full of strength, rushing around with many lightnings, he was not afraid of anything and waved his wings mightily.

When he sat down, the stamping of his claws created mountains and large valleys, while lightning penetrated deep underground and formed caves.

When Nudos flew to the heavens, his wings formed clouds full of water and a raging wind, while lightning flashed the sky and created stars and sun.

But then it turned out that many abominable monsters and animals had been hidden in the earth since birth, and they were freed by Nudos.

It was a time of darkness, when all the monsters were running around the earth and there was suffering and death.

The sun then produced flowers with its rays, which then grew on green meadows, and the sun protected them.

Its heat burned all the monsters which wanted to hurt the flowers.

After a long time, Nudós has weakened because he never ate anything.

He sat on the most colorful and colorful meadow, his lightning flashing out and his wings never hovering again.

Before he released his soul, he laid another egg.

The first people were born from him - a man and a woman.

They were defenseless but full of tenderness.

The man and woman had to flee from evil and monstrous animals, but they were not afraid of some.

Although the animals were ugly, the man and woman caressed them and spoke lovingly to them.

It so happened that their kindness turned many monsters into ordinary, beautiful animals - and they taught men and women how to take care of themselves in the wild world.

Thus was born the world and the people in it. *
