Introduction to the World Naul
English

How to read this site

  • The work is not finished and new parts are constantly being created - do not expect a sorted out and calm course,

  • you started the correct way - on this page "What is Naul?", here is general information

  • try to read the chapters of the book "Myths of Naul" (see menu), there you will learn the necessary basis,

  • then "Wonderness" (see menu) will start to give you a sense, as well as "Map", "Gallery" and "Quiz",

  • those who are not afraid will also dive into the section "For enthusiasts",

  • on the other hand "One Hundred Myths" (see menu) has little to do with the world of Naul and it is only a nice and simple talk about the creation of the world (I recommend it to a wider audience),

  • the whole site is also translated into English - but to English only and it is constantly being corrected and in progress

  • and most importantly - if you are "caught" by the style of storytelling and features of the world of Naul, there will be no need for explaining anything :)

What is Naul?
Naul is the name of a fictional world, a fantasy world in which all the stories published on this website take place. At present, we can compare the World of Naul with a long list of similar, artificially created worlds, which are a necessary basis for the creation of another work. Whether it's a book or a whole series of books based on one fictional world, whether it's movies and series or computer games, there's always a "new world" in the background.

Readers and fans of such works are critical and often demand that the world they read about and imagine is elaborate and "fantasy realistic," ie. it still resembled an "imaginable" world. Along with the stories, it is necessary to answer various accompanying questions, for example:
"How did the world come into being? Are there any gods in the world? Can we cast spells in such a world? What abilities do the heroes have and what happened to the powerful items that the heroes used? What happens after death? Are there any terrible and invincible creatures, monsters? ”

It is nothing new under the sun. Our ancestors had many such explanations of where the world came from, for each religion, for each culture, or for each tribe and nation separately.
The basic work is the book "Myths of Naul", the author is Martin Horák (Děčín, Czech Republic) and everything related to Naul can be found on the website www.worldnaul.org (see further notes below). It is under the protection of a common copyright.

And the worldnaul.org website?
World Naul is a content-comprehensive website that deal with everything related to the World of Naul (see introductory question). The main content is literary work, and the backbone of the content are books - the main source is the book "Myths of Naul".

The field of creation also includes non-story information about the world of Naul, such as short descriptions of objects and places of interest, poetic formations, illustrations, paintings, maps, diagrams, lists, etc.
The website is regularly updated with news (at least as far as possible), which are clearly displayed on the home page.

And the book "Myths of Naul"?
It is the basic work of the World of Naul. The individual chapters are gradually being added to the worldnaul.org website, which can be read free of charge. The book is still unpublished in paper form.

Book annotation:
The gods and monsters of the mythical world have lived together in clash and peace since the creation of the world. And about these beginnings we learn from the book of myths - how the world, its mountains, forests, the sea, hundreds of different divine, magical beings and many other inhabitants of the World Naul were created. The author takes us through history, the deeds of important heroes, times of peace and war, at a time when people had not yet been born, but the world was filled with ancient powers. The book is a basic work for an introduction to the stories and also the study of this strange world, in many ways similar to ours. Numbered paragraphs and characteristic symbolism in the form of many illustrations underline the unusual character of the work.

What are "Wonderfullnesses"?

They are short stories about magical or divine objects, special places and simply "wonders" on Naul. If you are a fan of such fantasy articles, you will be interested in reading, but if you follow the Book of Myths, suddenly all the objects and locations in the world of Naul will start to make more sense.

New and new articles are added regularly.

And the book "One Hundred Myths"?

It is another book on mythology, this time focusing on "myths about the origin of the world". They are short chapters, each containing one variation of how our world may have come into being. And it is also possible that the same myths about the creation of the world were imagined by the peoples of Naul.

This book has no connection to the basic work "Myths of Naul", but on the contrary it is a more lively, far simpler and more digestible text for readers.

For the contemplative

As you read about Naul, you will come across many things that seem strange or incomprehensible, but most of them make sense or are involved in a certain "network of relationships."

But what you won't find here is humor and chillout relaxation, in contrast to many other sources on the world wide web, the books here are not used for superficial entertainment or Youtuber relaxation (but I do not condemn it and I indulge myself in full sips :) Most of the sources and texts here are "serious".

Because of this, among other things, bigger and smaller stories can seem a bit outdated, austere, artificial, and "stiff". Also, the names do not contribute to good readability, because most of the names and titles from Naul are in the Domödi language and its romanization in a form accessible to us uses a somewhat exotic, but very effective notation of pronunciation.

Therefore, the names are chosen in the original and I usually do not try to translate again. I find it embarrassing to throw away the grandeur of epic stories about the creation of the world and the great deeds of heroes with terms like "crippletumblechick", "bitchieblossiewoomby" or "screwyallholes".

Scribe's heritage

To increase the authenticity and "credibility" of Naul, an important "literary hero" was created. It is Ükos the Scribe (read "ookohs"). He is one of the first people (on Naul) to study the history of Naul and write the book "Myths of Naul". It took him most of his life to collect fragments of stories and compile them into a meaningful book, although it was not his only work. But because it was a book of great importance, after his death, a whole community was formed, the "Scribes of Naul", who admire Ükos and follow in his footsteps.

Also please read how it is written on this topic in the book "Legends of Naul":

Immortal glory belongs to Ükos, who is called The Scribe, but his disciples, over a hundred generations, called him Archsage or History's Compiler.
The times when he lived and created were more imbued with antiquity than at the time of writing this scripture. However, his spirit hovers over all of us and is an increasingly powerful inspiration for us, while the companions of Ükos' literature diligently gather all the knowledge of ancient times.
What is the colourful past of Ükos is unknown, for he did not write stories of his own life, aware of his nothingness against the vast magnitudes of Naul history, and against the grandeur of the great deities.
...
Here The Scribe said:
"Learn words, learn sentences, and learn to sing with the sound of pleasure, the sacred language of Domödi, the scriptures of Boyï, and do not cease. Do not faint, even in dark times, without candles and cold sun, but it is then that you work hardest. If your knowledge fades, with human time and needs, water it with your effort and diligence. And do not dwell on your imperfections, which must be worked out with a long time and a long study. Even ten years is not enough to speak with pride, and even in a hundred years you would not reach your goal. Learn words diligently, learn to compose sentences carefully, thoughtfully, and learn to sing with the sound of the pleasing, sacred language of Domödi, do not stop. For you will all be strongest as a whole, and love intertwined with the wisdom of words will not leave you.”
It was only when the Ükos Researcher wrote the Myths of Naulu that he agreed to become the head of the newly formed association, the Naulu Scriptures, although his loyal followers had tried to approach him earlier. "

... and he also said ...
"Build temples of good things, namely literature, here on Naul, among rocks and forests, between lakes and meadows, on coasts and in cities, with courage and faithfulness, with faith in the right thing. The temples must provide a cool shade from the relentless rays of Slöynan, but also a warm fire enclosed in a blessed hearth. Lock the solid door, do not let the fire go out and write all knowledge down, research. At other times, travel far, explore, ask questions, do not accumulate money, rather spend it for knowledge, listen, read, draw and write. Discover distant landscapes and tell their stories, confess ancient creatures and learn from their memory. Record the history of Naul." *

There is no place for Artificial Intelligence on Naul

Everything is 100% man-made, everything is painted by the human hand, and the texts, as well as the stories and relationships between them, are the work of the human mind. Taking into account that the website itself and the machine rendering of images and text is of course supported by computer technology.
